Nizhny Novgorod residents will be able to save on public transport fares starting from August 1.

      July 29, 2026 11:06 Society Residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region will be able to save on public transport trips from August 1 to November 30, 2026. When paying for travel with a "Mir" card loaded onto a smartphone, the cost of each trip will be 10 rubles less. The discount applies to trips on buses, electric buses, trolleybuses, trams, and the metro. Almost four thousand vehicles in the region are equipped for contactless payment. To take advantage of the offer, it is necessary to add the "Mir" card in advance to one of the mobile payment services, such as Mir Pay. An Android-based smartphone must support the contactless payment function. After that, to pay, simply hold the phone to the terminal—the discount will be applied automatically. The "Mir" payment system notes that it works even without an internet connection. All "Mir" cards are participating in the promotion, including virtual ones issued in banking apps. A discount is not provided when paying with a plastic card. Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways of the region Denis Ryabinin noted that contactless payment by smartphone remains one of the popular payment methods for travel among both residents of the region and tourists. Recall that from July 1, 2026, cash payments were abolished on public transport in Nizhny Novgorod. Currently, travel can be paid for with a bank or transport card.
