Two teams from Nizhny Novgorod became prize winners of the Russian rowing championship.

      From July 2 to 6, the Russian Rowing Championship for boys and girls under 17 years old took place in Nizhny Novgorod at the Rowing Canal. More than 400 athletes from various regions of the country participated in the competitions. The athletes competed for victory over a distance of 1,500 meters, demonstrating their skills in singles, doubles, fours, and eights.

      As a result of the competitions, two Nizhny Novgorod crews won awards. Silver medals in the women's category went to Yelizaveta Solobayeva, Yevgeniya Burkhanova, Varvara Berezina, and Anastasia Smirnova in the "four without a coxswain" discipline. In the "pair four" discipline among boys, bronze medals were awarded to Mikhail Goryachev, Artem Korotkov, Timofey Murenkiy, and Svyatoslav Zalyubin.

      "This year we celebrate the 100th anniversary of rowing and the 50th anniversary of the Rowing Canal. This is an important date for the Nizhny Novgorod school of rowing and for regional sports as a whole. We regularly host competitions of the highest level in rowing. During the competition days, many spectators gather on the embankment of the Rowing Canal, as it is a spectacular and beautiful sport. Fans can appreciate both the level of the teams' athletic skills and their determination. Nizhny Novgorod teams once again showed a worthy result at the Russian Championship! Congratulations to the guys! I wish them new victories!" noted Dmitry Kabailo, the Minister of Sports of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      Winners and prize-winners in each event were awarded medals and diplomas from the Ministry of Sports of Russia.
