A sports festival for families of children with disabilities took place in the Sormovsky district.

On July 7, 2026, at 16:58, Society held an inclusive sports festival "Family Happiness" in Sormovsky Park, dedicated to family values and traditions. The event was organized by the primary branch of the "United Russia" party "Guardian of the Revolution 2" of the Moscow district with the support of the Nizhny Novgorod regional executive committee of the party. The event brought together 30 families from Nizhny Novgorod raising children with disabilities.

The festival took place on the eve of the Day of Family, Love, and Fidelity and was timed to coincide with the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia. The event became a vivid example of multinational unity.

The solemn opening began with welcoming words from honored guests. Dmitry Filipenko, head of the Nizhny Novgorod regional executive committee of the "United Russia" party, emphasized the importance of supporting families with children with disabilities and creating an accessible environment for all.

"People with disabilities need special care. These are children, behind every smile of whom is daily hard work, and parents who bear enormous responsibility. Our most important task is to make the world more accessible and comfortable for them. Thanks to the initiatives of 'United Russia', the number of rehabilitation centers is increasing, support measures are expanding, and schools are creating conditions for comfortable learning for children with disabilities. Together, we overcome difficulties and create an environment where every resident of the country feels comfortable," he emphasized.

Regional coordinator of the party project "United Country - Accessible Environment", deputy of the Nizhny Novgorod City Duma Roman Ponomarenko also spoke with a welcoming address. He highlighted that sports and creativity help break down barriers and strengthen family ties and neighborliness.

"For me, there are two main things in this festival. The first is that the organizer is the primary branch, i.e., people who live next to these families and know that they need such a day. The second is the festival itself. It brought together people of different ages, nationalities, and abilities. And everyone felt at home here. The project 'United Country - Accessible Environment' helps such initiatives happen, but the main thing is that they unite people around simple values: care, respect, the ability to be together and rejoice," said Roman Ponomarenko.

"At the festival, people gathered who know what true love is. Not the kind that is talked about in movies, but the kind that manifests itself in care, in the ability to support, in the capacity to rejoice in simple things. Thank you to each participant for the energy and warmth they give each other, for the example of how together we can make the world around accessible for everyone, without limitations. May there always be warmth, understanding, and mutual support in every family," noted Mikhail Morozov, General Director of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Nizhny Novgorod, winner of the preliminary voting of "United Russia".

After the official part, families dispersed to the play areas. Creative workshops and sports games were organized for them: ring toss, skittles, croquet, family pioneer ball, as well as checkers and backgammon. Everyone was able to try their hand at each activity. An atmosphere of friendship and mutual assistance prevailed throughout the festival.

A field kitchen with treats from Uzbek families also operated for the guests. The event concluded with tea drinking. Festival participants tasted real pilaf and exchanged warm wishes with each other.

Let us remind you that the party project "United Country - Accessible Environment" helps people with disabilities and creates a barrier-free environment. Among its tasks are the development of accessible social, transport, and cultural infrastructure. The project engages people with disabilities in public, sports, and professional life, promotes best practices in rehabilitation and employment, and fosters respectful attitudes towards people with disabilities while highlighting their achievements and contributions to the country's development.
