Drug dealers wanted by federal authorities were detained in Nizhny Novgorod.

      On July 6, 2026, at 15:45, incidents occurred in Nizhny Novgorod where law enforcement detained a man and a woman who had been hiding from justice for several years. Both had been on the federal wanted list since 2018. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region.

      The operation was conducted by employees of the regional drug control department in collaboration with colleagues from the Center for Counteracting Extremism and the operational department of the Federal Penitentiary Service for Nizhny Novgorod region.

      The detainees turned out to be a 32-year-old resident of St. Petersburg and a 29-year-old woman from Moscow. According to the investigation, they may be involved in the non-contact distribution of drugs in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      During a search at their residence, police found bundles and packets containing substances, as well as packaging and devices for packaging. The examination showed that part of the seized substance was amphetamine weighing 344.5 grams.

      A criminal case has been initiated for the attempted illegal sale of narcotic substances in particularly large quantities. The court has remanded both defendants in custody.

      The police reminded that illegal drug trafficking falls under the category of particularly serious crimes and can lead to punishment of up to life imprisonment.
