18 zones for training drone launches have been approved in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
On July 6, 2026, at 18:23 Society In the Nizhny Novgorod region, 18 special sites have been designated for training and practice flights of unmanned aerial vehicles. This was reported by the regional government. They are located in Nizhny Novgorod, Bor, Vyksa, Pavlovo, Knyaginino, Vorotynets, the village of Bolshoye Kozino, as well as in the Kstovsky and Balakhnin districts. "Unmanned aviation systems today are one of the most promising and rapidly developing industries. To train qualified specialists, it is important to create not only educational programs but also conditions for practicing practical skills," noted the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin. He emphasized that the emergence of special zones expands opportunities for schoolchildren, students, and educators, and also helps residents of the region become better acquainted with modern technologies in the field of UAVs. Deputy Governor Yegor Polyakov explained that flights at these sites will take place in specially designated airspace. According to him, the decision should support the development of unmanned aviation and create additional conditions for training future specialists. Each zone has its own parameters: boundaries, permissible height, and operating mode. Depending on the location, drones will be able to ascend to heights from 50 to 150 meters, and the radius of the zone reaches one kilometer. Flights are permitted during the hours established for each site. The main feature of the new zones is the ability to conduct flights without prior approvals. Drones weighing up to 30 kg can be launched without permission to use airspace and without submitting a flight plan, which simplifies the conduct of classes and training. The development of unmanned aviation systems in the country is carried out within the framework of the national project "Unmanned Aviation Systems," developed at the request of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. Earlier, Nizhny Novgorod residents were reminded of the rules of conduct when encountering drones. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
