      The open-air exhibition is dedicated to the anniversary of the Nizhny Novgorod State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve.

      On July 2, the deputy and head of the apparatus of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Maxim Rebrov, participated in the opening of the street photo exhibition "Museum Through the Lens. 130 Years." The project was implemented with the support of the regional Ministry of Culture and the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization "Altar of the Fatherland." The exhibition unfolded in Theater Square - in the heart of the pedestrian street Bolshaya Pokrovskaya - and will be available to residents and guests of the city until the end of August. The exhibition features 28 photographs from the museum's collection, which serve as documentary evidence of the long journey of the museum-reserve. Its history began on June 25 (July 7 in the new style), 1896, when the Nizhny Novgorod City Art and Historical Museum opened in the Dmitrievskaya Tower of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin. In 1958, the Gorky Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve was created based on the local history museum, which included the Kremlin walls and towers, the Archangel Cathedral, and other monuments. The modern name - Nizhny Novgorod State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve - was given to the institution in 1990 when the city was returned to its historical name. The photographs on the stands allow one to literally see 130 years: the first exhibitions in the Dmitrievskaya Tower, post-revolutionary exhibitions that shaped the "new man," military exhibitions. "The opening of this exhibition is a good tradition. For several years now, projects have appeared on Bolshaya Pokrovskaya, the main pedestrian street of the city, reminding us of the past. Today's exhibition is dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the museum-reserve. It is important to note that the museum is primarily about people. Those who day by day carefully preserve, study, and pass on the history of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Looking at these frames, you understand the colossal journey that has been made: from the first halls in the Dmitrievskaya Tower to a whole museum association with numerous exhibits. We take pride in the fact that our compatriots have managed to preserve this heritage. And most importantly, today we can pass it on to new generations," shared Maxim Rebrov.
