The number of crimes against state authority has increased by 19% in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      July 3, 2026 17:12 Incidents 232 corruption-related crimes were detected in the Nizhny Novgorod region from January to May 2026, which is 5.9% more compared to the same period last year. This was reported by the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. Of the total number of registered corruption crimes, 189 fall into the category of serious and particularly serious offenses. This is 7.4% more than a year earlier, when 176 such acts were recorded. In addition, law enforcement agencies identified 263 crimes against state authority, the interests of public service, and service in local government bodies. The indicator increased by 19% compared to last year (221). A total of 131 bribery cases were documented. Last year, 139 such crimes were registered. This includes 45 cases of receiving bribes compared to 42 a year earlier and 46 cases of giving bribes instead of 45 in 2025.
