Strengthening interregional ties: a delegation from the Nizhny Novgorod region visited the capital of Belarus as part of a cooperation agreement.
As part of the implementation of the cooperation agreement between the administration of the Nizhny Novgorod district of Nizhny Novgorod and the administration of the Central district of Minsk, an official visit of Nizhny Novgorod residents to the capital of the Republic of Belarus took place. The program was rich and included business meetings and a cultural program aimed at strengthening interregional ties and developing partnerships. The scale of the trip went beyond the bilateral format: in addition to representatives of the Nizhny Novgorod district, the delegation included participants from sister cities and partners – the city of Reutov in the Moscow region and the city of St. Petersburg. A key event of the official program was a working meeting at the administration of the Central district of Minsk. Dmitry Timoshenko, Deputy Head of the Nizhny Novgorod district administration, and Valery Voronitsky, Head of the Central district of the Belarusian capital, discussed current issues of municipal management, including the implementation of social programs, the improvement of public spaces, and the development of urban infrastructure. "We are pleased to welcome guests from Nizhny Novgorod and look forward to long-term cooperation, which will undoubtedly be fruitful and bring real benefits to the residents of our districts," emphasized Valery Voronitsky in his welcoming speech. In the business part of the program, the delegation got acquainted with the work of several significant institutions and venues: at LLC "MEMPEKS," the guests studied high-tech production processes, at the Minsk City Social Boarding House "Ochak," they learned how Minsk specialists help those in difficult life situations, and at the Children's and Youth Technical Creativity Center, they discussed methods of additional education. Delegation representatives also participated in the XIII Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia. The cultural program allowed the delegation to touch upon the history of the union state. The guests visited the Museum of the Great Patriotic War – its exhibition is considered one of the largest in the world. Representatives of the Nizhny Novgorod district also participated in a ceremonial event dedicated to the 57th anniversary of the Central district of Minsk. "Visiting Minsk with such a rich agenda is a great honor for us. We are grateful to our Belarusian colleagues for their warm welcome and constructive dialogue. I am convinced that this visit is just the beginning of a strong partnership," summed up the results of the trip Dmitry Timoshenko, Deputy Head of the Nizhny Novgorod district administration. Both sides emphasize that the visit of the Nizhny Novgorod district delegation to Minsk was a significant step in strengthening partnership relations. The exchange of experience and the establishment of personal contacts between representatives of the administrations and social institutions of the two cities create a solid foundation for future joint projects that will benefit the residents of Nizhny Novgorod and Minsk. It is worth noting that earlier it was reported that the head of Nizhny Novgorod, Yuri Shalabaev, and the chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee, Vladimir Kukharev, signed a new roadmap for cooperation for 2026-2028. The signing ceremony took place as part of the Nizhny Novgorod Days in Minsk. The document outlines the main areas of joint work and provides for the implementation of more than 40 joint projects and events. Additionally, during the meeting, cooperation agreements with the Minsk districts were signed by the Lenin, Moscow, and Kstovo districts of Nizhny Novgorod. Now all nine districts of the city are developing direct partnership ties with the districts of Minsk.
