More than 30 km of the R-158 highway will be expanded to four lanes in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      On July 1, 2026, at 14:45, Society More than 30 kilometers of the federal highway R-158 is planned to be expanded to four lanes in the Nizhny Novgorod region by 2028. The issue was discussed at the level of the regional government, reports the Federal State Institution "Volga-Vyatka Road Administration." Currently, major repairs are ongoing on the section from the 40th to the 46th kilometer of the Nizhny Novgorod - Arzamas - Saransk - Issa - Penza - Saratov road. The expansion of the roadway from two to four lanes is planned here. In addition, this road construction season plans to begin major repairs on another section of the highway - from the 52nd to the 77th kilometer. The project also envisions increasing the number of lanes to four. The update will cost 13.6 billion rubles. On this section, the road surface will be completely replaced, and a new covering will be laid within the right-of-way. The procedure for selecting a contractor is currently underway. The work is expected to be completed in 2028. As part of the major repairs, the renovation of four bridges is also planned, specifically over the rivers Miyanika, Tutovka, Modan, and Pukstery.
