Half of the youth in the PFO expects to save up to 10 million rubles by retirement.

July 1, 2026 14:29 Society Half of the youth in the Volga Federal District expect to save between five to ten million rubles for retirement. This is reported by IA "NTA-Privolzhye" citing a study by the NPF "Future," conducted in collaboration with the G.V. Plekhanov Russian Economic University. According to the results of an online survey, 78% of young residents of the Volga Federal District believe that it is necessary to start forming pension savings before the age of 35. At the same time, 10% of respondents aged 18 to 35 have already begun taking active steps. Among those who are already saving, there are more men than women—17% compared to 10%, respectively. Another 59% of survey participants are not yet saving but plan to start in the near future. 84% of respondents would like to receive at least 50,000 rubles per month in retirement. The most popular range was 50−75 thousand rubles, chosen by 47% of respondents. Another 19% expect payments of 75−100 thousand rubles, and 18% expect income over 100 thousand rubles. When discussing the expected amount of personal savings, 50% of survey participants named a sum between five to ten million rubles. More modest expectations were demonstrated by 18% of respondents, who expect to save between one to three million rubles, 21% expect between three to five million rubles, and 11% expect less than one million rubles. Attitudes towards the age to start saving vary; however, only 7% consider it reasonable to save for retirement after the age of 45. The study also showed that with age, the expectation of employer participation in forming pension capital increases. Among respondents aged 18−25, 58% noted the importance of such support, while in the 26−35 age group, this figure rose to 71%.
