The former director of a Nizhny Novgorod firm is accused of fraud amounting to 19 million rubles.
On July 1, 2026, at 14:00, Incidents In the Nizhny Novgorod region, a criminal case has been initiated against the former director of an organization engaged in the processing and disposal of waste. He is suspected of large-scale fraud, as reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee for the region. According to the investigation, the company that was building roads entered into a contract with a commercial firm for the collection, transportation, and disposal of waste. The organization headed by the suspect was the contractor for the contract. Law enforcement believes that the director prepared fictitious acts of work performed for the disposal of class 3 hazardous waste and submitted them to the customer. Based on these documents, more than 19 million rubles were transferred to the firm's account. The investigation believes that the man disposed of the received funds at his discretion. This concerns money allocated for the replacement of tram tracks in Nizhny Novgorod as part of the federal project "Development of Public Transport" of the national project "Infrastructure for Life." The suspect has been detained under Article 91 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation. The investigation is currently establishing all the circumstances of the incident and checking for possible involvement of other individuals and additional episodes. It was previously reported that a resident of Nizhny Novgorod was convicted of fraud in the construction of a house for a veteran of the special military operation.
