Police detained a Nizhny Novgorod resident who opened fire with a traumatic weapon on the street.

      On June 26, 2026, at 18:38, Incidents: Law enforcement officers detained a man who fired into the air with a traumatic pistol in the Priokskiy district. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      On the night of June 25, a report of gunfire was received at the duty station near one of the houses on 40 Years of Victory Street. Police quickly identified the offender. He turned out to be a 43-year-old local resident with no prior convictions.

      According to the man, he went down to the entrance after his car alarm went off. After ensuring that everything was fine with the car, he made a remark to motorcyclists who were loudly passing by, which could have provoked the alarm to go off.

      After that, the Nizhny Novgorod resident moved to a forest belt and fired several shots into the air from a traumatic pistol, for which he has a permit.

      A protocol was drawn up against the man for an administrative offense under part 2 of Article 20.13 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (firing a weapon in designated areas with violations of established rules or in non-designated areas). Further investigation is underway.
