      On June 25, 2026, at 15:47, Economy The cost of a basic set of products in major retail chains in the region has significantly decreased. At the beginning of the year, vegetable prices were at record highs: cucumbers and tomatoes cost up to 300-500 rubles per kilogram. Now they have dropped by almost half, reports the website pravda-nn.ru, citing analysts from AKORT.

      Products in the chains have become 11.3% cheaper compared to May of last year.

      The leaders in low prices are potatoes (-48.4%), beets (-46.5%), white cabbage (-40.6%), onions (-38.7%), and rice (-31.1%).

      Pork (-23.4%), butter (-20%), carrots (-19.9%), and apples (-8.4%) have also become cheaper.

      Nizhny Novgorodstat records a similar trend since the beginning of the year. Cucumbers have decreased to 131 rubles instead of 172, tomatoes to 186 instead of 193. Butter has dropped by 90 rubles - a kilogram will cost 880 rubles instead of January's 970.

      Chicken has lost 11 rubles (188 rub. per kg), pork - 14 rubles (312 rub.). Cottage cheese has become cheaper by 13 rubles (371 rub. per kg), cheese - by 48 rubles (808 rub.). Rice and buckwheat have fallen to 97 and 65 rubles.

      Some vegetables have slightly increased in price since the beginning of the year, but still outperform last year's figures. Potatoes have risen from 32 to 49 rubles, but a year ago at this time they cost all of 100. Cabbage has increased from 27 to 36 rubles, but last June it was sold for 57. Carrots have added 14 rubles (41 rub.), beets and onions - by 6 rubles (37 and 43 rub.), which is significantly cheaper than 65 rubles in the summer of 2025.

      As for actual price tags, in a popular supermarket chain, potatoes were sold for 44 rubles, although new crop tubers were nearby for 79. Onions were found for 48 rubles, beets for 27. Cucumbers were offered at 120 rubles per kg, tomatoes at 200. The minimum price for carrots was 56 rubles, cabbage - 50. A 900-gram pack of buckwheat cost 60 rubles, a kilogram of rice - 100, a dozen eggs - from 83 to 110 rubles. Apples can be bought for 110, oranges on sale for 90.

      It was previously reported that the average cost of gasoline increased by 3.35% over the week in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
