The storage facilities are being drained at the NCA before the start of the second phase of reconstruction.

      On June 25, 2026, at 14:25, Society At the Nizhny Novgorod Aeration Station (NSA), the preparatory phase for the second stage of modernization has begun. Specialists are taking the storage facilities out of operation to soon hand them over to the contractor for dismantling and construction, reported AO "OKO."

      The process is proceeding in stages, strictly according to schedule. This approach allows for the redistribution of the biological treatment load onto the remaining operational tanks and avoids disruptions in the city's sewage system.

      At this point, one aeration tank has already been stopped and prepared for repair, as well as two primary and two secondary clarifiers. By the end of June, the station's staff plans to completely drain two more aeration tanks. The work involves not only the entire shift of employees but also specialized equipment from the enterprise.

      The draining of the structures is ahead of the comprehensive plan. As soon as this stage is completed, the general contractor will enter the site and begin dismantling the old engineering networks and constructing new facilities.

      According to the project for the second stage, 60 facilities will be updated. The list includes seven aeration tanks, six secondary, and four primary clarifiers. In addition, two new ultraviolet disinfection stations will be built here.

      Special attention is given to the technology for treating sludge. After all work is completed, the enterprise will abandon the outdated practice of storing sludge in open areas. Instead, a two-stage dewatering and thermal drying process will be implemented. In the future, the freed-up sludge fields and landfill will be gradually reclaimed.

      It should be noted that the contract for the second phase of reconstruction was signed with the company LLC "SoyuzDonStroy" on May 12, 2026. The cost of this stage is estimated at 20 billion rubles. The modernization is planned to be completed by 2030.

      Earlier, in December 2025, the first stage of the upgrade was successfully completed, during which 50 facilities were put in order. The first phase of work was carried out by the FAU "RosKapStroy," however, in April 2026, AO "OKO" unilaterally terminated the contract with this contractor.
