The Investigative Committee is interested in the death of a 30-year-old man from Nizhny Novgorod who drifted away on a raft.

      On June 19, 2026, at 13:07, Incidents: Investigators have organized a preliminary investigation into the death of a 30-year-old man, whose body was found in the Vetluga River. This was reported by the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region. A resident of the Semyonovsky district went out on a raft on the river on June 15 and after that stopped communicating. A few days later, the man was found dead. His body was retrieved from the Vetluga near the village of Paloustnoye in the Varnavinsky district. As noted by the Investigative Committee, there were no visible signs of criminal activity upon examination of the body. A forensic medical examination has been appointed to establish the exact cause of death. Currently, investigators continue to establish all the circumstances of the incident. Based on the results of the procedural check, an appropriate decision will be made. Earlier, it was reported that the Investigative Committee began a procedural check after a barrier fell on a pregnant woman at a metro construction site in Nizhny Novgorod.
