The section of the R-158 highway in the Nizhny Novgorod region will be repaired for 167 million.

      On June 19, 2026, at 12:49, Society In Lukoyanov, repairs have begun on a section of the federal highway R-158 "Nizhny Novgorod - Saratov." During the work, it is planned to update the road surface and restore 13 bus stops, as reported by the regional GUAD. The work is being carried out as part of the national project "Infrastructure for Life" on the section from the 165th to the 171st kilometer. The contract value is 167.3 million rubles. According to the project, the contractor will need to clear the roadside area of shrubs and small trees, tidy up the shoulders and slopes, and strengthen them with gravel. The old layer of asphalt will be removed from the roadway, after which leveling and top layers of gravel-mastic asphalt concrete will be laid. The update will also affect the exits from the highway. In addition, the restoration of 13 bus stops is planned, with the construction of pull-in pockets and the installation of new concrete pavilions. There will also be 20 new road signs installed in the area, and the markings will be applied with thermoplastic containing reflective elements. Acting Director of the State Institution of Nizhny Novgorod "GUAD," Alexander Denisov, noted that this is one of two sections of the R-158 highway under the operational management of the institution. The second section is located in the Shatkovsky district and was completely renovated in 2021. According to him, the section in Lukoyanov has long needed updating due to high traffic loads. A significant flow of transit traffic passes along the road, including tourist buses heading to Bolshoye Boldino, as well as heavy vehicles heading to Mordovia. "The new surface, reinforced shoulders, and plastic markings will make the route safer," emphasized Alexander Denisov. The regional government reminded that since 2019, more than 6,600 kilometers of roads have been repaired in the Nizhny Novgorod region under the national project "Infrastructure for Life" and its predecessor, the national project "Safe Quality Roads," as well as about 140 kilometers of regional highways have been built and reconstructed. In 2025 alone, 761 kilometers of the road network were brought to regulatory condition with an initial plan of 626 kilometers.
