Olga Shchetinina: "We strive to create opportunities for the kids to have new experiences."
On June 19, 2026, at 12:52, Society The headquarters of public support for "United Russia" organized a tour for the children of the Avtozavodsky orphanage to the Museum of the History of the Gorky Automobile Plant. The Museum of the History of GAZ is one of the largest corporate museums in the country and introduces visitors to the history of the domestic automotive industry and the contribution of Gorky automakers to the development of the Russian economy. During the tour, the children saw legendary cars that have become symbols of several eras: GAZ-AA ("Polutorok"), "Victory," "Volga," "Chaika," and, of course, "Gazelle," without which modern roads are unimaginable, as well as other equipment. The orphanage children also got acquainted with rare developments of the plant, archival materials, and interactive exhibits that tell about the work of designers, engineers, and factory workers. "We strive to create opportunities for the children for new impressions, discoveries, and meaningful communication. I hope that the tour helped them look at the history of their hometown in a new light and perhaps think about their future profession," noted Russian senator and head of the public support headquarters Olga Shchetinina. "We are always happy to welcome young visitors. It is important for us not just to show the exhibits but to tell the story of the people who created cars and developed the domestic industry. Such tours help broaden children's horizons, introduce them to the history of their hometown and the industrial heritage of the Nizhny Novgorod region, and also promote interest in technical professions," added museum representative and guide Svetlana Sevodnyaseva. The tour made a big impression on the children. They were especially interested in the cars they had only seen in photographs or movies before. "I liked the 'Chaika' the most - a very beautiful car. It was also interesting to learn how cars were assembled many years ago and what kind of people worked at the plant. The tour was very interesting," shared tour participant Ilya.
