More than a third of private clinics in the Nizhny Novgorod region have refused to perform abortions.

      June 19, 2026 13:36 Society More than a third of private medical organizations in the Nizhny Novgorod region have stopped providing services for artificial termination of pregnancy. This was reported at the International Medical Forum "Health of the Nation - the Heritage of Russia," as conveyed by medical blogger Alexey Nikонов. According to the data presented at the forum, a similar trend is observed in other regions of the country. In 74 subjects of the Russian Federation, the provision of abortions outside state medical institutions is already unavailable, or such services are only provided by a few private clinics. The author of the channel "Bokal presseka," Nikонов, calculated that the possibility of artificial termination of pregnancy remains in 13 private medical organizations in the Nizhny Novgorod region. It is also noted that the websites of clinics that continue to provide such services have more information about the possible negative consequences of abortion for women's health. Additionally, medical organizations are posting information about support measures for pregnant women, including social benefits and other available forms of assistance. It was previously reported that 170 women from Nizhny Novgorod refused abortion after consulting with specialists.
