The HC "Torpedo" will play its first match at the "Volga Arena" without fans on August 14.

      Nizhny Novgorod's "Torpedo" will play its first match at the new "Volga Arena" on Strelka on August 14 without fans. This was reported by TASS, citing the chairman of the club's board and director of CURS, Maxim Gafurov.

      On this day, the team will meet with Moscow's "Dynamo." The game will be the first test match for the Nizhny Novgorod team as part of their preparation for the new season.

      "It is preliminarily planned that the match will take place at this arena; it will be a test for it. The game will be without spectators," noted Gafurov.

      It is expected that the Nizhny Novgorod team will also start the 2026/2027 season at the new arena.

      In addition to the match with "Dynamo," Alexey Isakov's team will also play two more test matches: on August 18 in Yaroslavl against "Lokomotiv" and on August 20 in Moscow against "Spartak."

      The new KHL season will start on September 5. In the first match, the "autozavodtsy" will play against "Spartak." The first home match will take place on September 14, when Kazan's "Ak Bars" will visit the capital of the Volga region.

      Recall that the construction of the arena began in 2022. Initially, the completion of the work was expected in 2024, but the deadlines were postponed to 2026. From 2026 to 2028, an additional 4.6 billion rubles is planned to be allocated for the completion of construction.

      In July 2025, the new Ice Palace was assigned an official address - Strelka Street, 11. Later, the arena was named "Volga Arena" in honor of the revived automotive brand.
