Nizhny Novgorod residents were told where ticks are most often encountered.
On June 11, 2026, at 15:27, Society In the Nizhny Novgorod region, since the beginning of the tick activity season, 3,249 people have sought medical help after being bitten by ticks, including 887 children. This data was provided by the regional office of Rospotrebnadzor as of June 11.
Requests have been registered in all municipalities of the region. The highest number of victims was noted in the urban districts of Bor - 227 cases and Dzerzhinsk - 205. Among the municipal districts, Vetluzhsky (186 cases) and Pavlovsky (181) lead. In Nizhny Novgorod, the most requests were registered in the Prioksky district - 186, Sovetsky - 183, and Avtozavodsky - 166.
Since the beginning of the year, nine cases of tick-borne borreliosis have been identified in the region. The disease was diagnosed in adult residents of Nizhny Novgorod, as well as in the Tonkin, Balakhna, Bogorodsky districts, and Arzamas. In all cases, the infection occurred within the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod region, and the diagnoses were confirmed in the laboratory.
At the same time, the total number of requests due to tick bites in 2026 turned out to be 1.3 times lower than the average long-term level.
Residents most often encountered ticks in their yards - they accounted for 36% of cases. Another 35% of bites occurred in garden and vegetable plots. In forests, residents were attacked by ticks in 15% of cases, in parks and squares - in 11%. Cases of tick bites have also been registered outside the region.
Since the beginning of the season, specialists have examined 4,534 ticks, of which 4,223 were removed from people. Pathogens of various infections were found in 857 cases, which is 18.9% of the total number of examined ticks.
The tick-borne encephalitis virus was identified in seven ticks. Such findings were registered in Shakhunya, Bor, as well as in the Sharangsky and Uren districts. In addition, 677 ticks were found to be infected with borrelia, 21 with ehrlichia, and 150 with anaplasma.
Emergency prevention with anti-tick immunoglobulin was received by 514 people, including 500 children.
According to Rospotrebnadzor, 13,201 people, including 3,096 children, have been vaccinated against tick-borne viral encephalitis in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
