Nizhny Novgorod is preparing for a week of rain.

      The deterioration of weather conditions will begin on Saturday. Precipitation with thunderstorms is forecasted for the daytime, and then rainy weather will persist for almost the entire following week. In total, more than 35 mm of precipitation may fall in the city during this period.

      The most intense rains, according to preliminary forecasts, are expected on June 16. Up to 12 mm of precipitation may fall within a day. If such a volume of water is concentrated in a short time frame, temporary water accumulation may occur in certain sections of the street and road network.

      The Department of Transport and Road Management of Nizhny Novgorod reported that they are already preparing water pumping equipment for adverse conditions. If necessary, it will be able to operate around the clock. In addition, in places where flooding is most frequently recorded, a constant duty of special vehicles will be organized.

      Additional attention will be paid to drainage facilities. Before the onset of bad weather, specialists will clean the channels and gutters designed for rainwater drainage. Slopes where landslide processes may occur will also be monitored.

      Meanwhile, a warning about heavy rains is already in effect for Nizhny Novgorod and the Nizhny Novgorod region. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, intense precipitation may begin in the next 1-3 hours on June 11 and will persist into the evening hours.
