June 10, 2026 08:20 Economy Nizhny Novgorod has become one of the nine million-plus cities where an increase in prices for primary housing was recorded in May. This is reported by "RBK Real Estate" citing data from "NDV Supermarket of Real Estate." The average cost per square meter in new buildings in the capital of the Volga region at the end of May was 226,500 rubles. Over the month, the figure increased by 0.5%. Against the backdrop of other megacities, the dynamics in Nizhny Novgorod appear restrained. The leader in growth rates was St. Petersburg, where the price increased by 1.9% and reached 372,400 rubles per square meter. Following are Volgograd (+1.8%, to 135,500 rubles) and Ufa (+1.5%, to 190,000 rubles). At the same time, in seven million-plus cities, a decrease in prices was noted. The most significant drop was recorded in Kazan - minus 3% (to 275,700 rubles per sq. m), Yekaterinburg - by 1.7% (to 181,400 rubles), and in Moscow - by 1.4% (to 660,500 rubles). However, by the end of 2025, no decrease in the cost of new buildings was noted in any million-plus city. The highest annual growth was then shown by Moscow (+25.5%), St. Petersburg (+21.8%), and Kazan (+19.3%).
