The turnover of the Nizhny Novgorod catering industry has increased to 62 billion rubles by 2025.

This was reported by Nizhny Novgorod Statistics. According to statisticians, by the end of 2025, there were 1,969 restaurants, cafes, and bars operating in the region. In addition, there were 482 public canteens and snack bars, as well as 1,245 canteens under the balance of educational institutions, organizations, and industrial enterprises. It is noted that over the past five years, the number of public canteens and snack bars has increased by 6.2%, while the number of restaurants, cafes, and bars has grown by 5.6%. At the same time, the number of canteens at educational institutions and enterprises decreased by 5%. The turnover of public catering in the region amounted to 62.1 billion rubles. In comparable prices, this is 10.2% higher than the level of 2024. The majority of the turnover—64.6%—was provided by small business entities. Among them, small and micro-enterprises accounted for 52.7%, individual entrepreneurs for 8.2%, and self-employed for 3.7%. The share of large and medium organizations was 35.4%. In terms of turnover volume, the Nizhny Novgorod region ranks fourth among the regions of the Volga Federal District, behind the Samara region, Tatarstan, and Bashkortostan. Earlier, Alexander Kotyusov, head of the representation of the Federation of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers of Russia in the Nizhny Novgorod region, told NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" in an interview that 2026 will be a challenging year for the restaurant business.
