Fake FSB employees swindled a pensioner from Nizhny Novgorod out of 12,800,000 rubles.
On June 8, 2026, at 09:28, Incidents: Scammers deceived a 75-year-old woman from Nizhny Novgorod for three weeks, pretending to be representatives of the FSB, reported the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region. The fraudster convinced the pensioner of the necessity to cancel a dubious transaction on her bank account. A week after the first call, the woman withdrew 10 million rubles in cash from the bank and handed it over to an unknown girl in a black bag. A few days later, she withdrew 2 million rubles from her account, and then the scammer bought the elderly woman a ticket to Moscow. Already in the capital, the pensioner handed a bundle of cash wrapped in a plastic bag to a stranger. Subsequently, the woman cashed the remaining 800,000 rubles and handed them over to a courier near her home. The total amount of damage reached 12.8 million rubles. A criminal case has been initiated under part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud). Law enforcement is currently establishing the circumstances of the incident.
