The Apothecary Garden of the 19th century opened in the Nizhny Novgorod "Evenius House".

      On June 5, 2026, at 18:45 Culture and Leisure, the Apothecary Garden opened on June 5 at the "House of Evenius" on Studenaya Street, 45 in Nizhny Novgorod. This was reported by the project team.

      State "Apothecary Gardens" appeared in Moscow in the 16th-17th centuries, some of them later became botanical gardens. Later, pharmacists began to grow medicinal herbs on their own plots. As the Minister of Property and Land Relations of the region, Sergey Barinov, stated, this tradition is being revived for the first time in Nizhny Novgorod.

      The concept of the garden is based on a regular English garden - clear planning, a combination of functionality and aesthetics, as well as a small area of "wild" nature where herbs and flowers grow freely. The garden of Nikolai Evenius features Schisandra, mint, lemon balm, thyme, sage, valerian, onion, and lavender.

      The project would not be complete without a garden where friends can meet, attend a concert, or participate in a master class. We will definitely expand the event program, promised the general director of KP Nizhny Novgorod "Regnedvizhimost" Andrey Lachugin.

      The concept of the Apothecary Garden was developed by landscape architect Natalia Malysheva and co-authors of the "House of Evenius" project Nikita Gamzyul and Olga Naumova. The main idea was to create a dialogue with the city through such spaces.
