The events unfold around young folklore researchers from Moscow. To create a program about holidays, the creative producer sends the heroes to a film village, where they will not only study the rituals and customs of folk festivities but also experience each of them firsthand. The first episodes were timed to special days such as Christmas, Maslenitsa, Great Lent, Easter, and Trinity. The format of the program is far from documentary films; in a playful form, viewers immerse themselves in the history of Russian traditions while simultaneously observing the plot twists in the lives of the heroes. The project was directed by Daria Samsonova, with Sofia Ernst as the creative producer and Daria Solovyova as the executive producer. Our mission is to connect the past and the present. Traditions and rituals are our roots. It is important to show how our ancestors lived, to show what modern people can draw into their lives and their present day, Daria Solovyova said. The creators of the program have visited Nizhny Novgorod for filming before. The events of the April episode "The Great Day is Coming," dedicated to the Resurrection of Christ, took place at the Shchelokovsky Farm. This same location was chosen for the new plot about the holiday of Ivan Kupala. On June 1, filming took place at the museum-reserve itself, and on June 2, at the third lake of the park. The second site recreated the mysterious atmosphere of the night before the holiday. For this, the lights in the farm area were turned off, and under the careful guidance of the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations employees, a fire was lit, over which, according to tradition, the heroes jumped. We chose this place because it literally embodies a 19th-century village. Beautiful nature, an excellent museum, a good film crew, which included specialists from Nizhny Novgorod. We are very warmly welcomed here, so we are happy to come again, explained the executive producer. The hosts of the program became ethnomusicologist and specialist in traditional song culture Galina Lukashevich, musicians and participants of folklore ensembles Arseny Dyachenko and Yegor Banketov, as well as ethnomusicologist and traditional vocal teacher Nadezhda Gusarova. They are known to viewers from the program "Playing a Wedding!" (12+), one of the episodes of which was also filmed in Nizhny Novgorod. Actors for crowd scenes or "villagers of the film village" are selected for each episode in the region where filming takes place. For example, in the new episode, theater actress Maria Kaddo and the folklore-ethnographic ensemble "Svety-Tsvet" participated. Ivan Kupala is traditionally celebrated on the night of July 7.
