The court has sentenced Boris Nemtsov's cousin in absentia.

      On June 4, 2026, at 15:03, the district court of the Soviet district issued a posthumous arrest warrant for Igor Eidman*, a sociologist and publicist from Nizhny Novgorod and the cousin of the first governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Boris Nemtsov, on May 29. The activist himself reported this to "OVD-Info"**.

      According to the sociologist, he has been charged with articles related to the dissemination of military fakes, evasion of duties as a foreign agent, and participation in a terrorist organization.

      Presumably, the basis for the charge of participation in a terrorist organization was a repost of a fundraising campaign for drones for the "Freedom of Russia" legion***, as well as an interview with a Ukrainian channel in March 2024, where the publicist spoke about the necessity of supporting the formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which Russians are joining.

      In this regard, Igor Eidman is accused of participating in three organizations that have been recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia.

      The presence of a charge under the article on military fakes is likely related to a post by the man on social networks mentioning events in Bucha, while the violation of foreign agent legislation is associated with the absence of appropriate labeling in publications and failure to submit reports to the Ministry of Justice.

      It should be noted that Igor Eidman left Russia 15 years ago. In 2023, the sociologist was recognized as a foreign agent, and since the fall of 2024, he has been wanted in a case concerning a terrorist community that was initiated in connection with the activities of the "Forum of Free Russia"****.
