Gleb Nikitin: Nizhny Novgorod is ready to host the Russian Super Cup

      Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region Gleb Nikitin confirmed that Nizhny Novgorod is ready to host the match for the Super Cup of Russia for the 2026/2027 season, in which "Zenit" and "Spartak" will meet. This was reported by the publication "Championat."

      In response to a question about the possibility of holding the game in the capital of the Volga region, the head of the region answered briefly: "Always ready."

      At the same time, regarding possible negotiations with the Russian Football Union, Nikitin suggested addressing the question directly to the RFU.

      The Super Cup match is scheduled for July 18. Traditionally, it will open the new football season and will take place a week before the start of the RPL championship, scheduled for July 26.

      It should be noted that Volgograd is being considered as an alternative venue. According to sources, this option is being discussed in case the match cannot be held at the "Sovcombank Arena." Allegedly, an event may take place near the stadium at the new "Volga Arena" in mid-July.
