      June 4, 2026 15:50 Society Since the beginning of the tick activity season, 2,821 people have sought medical help in Nizhny Novgorod medical institutions, including 756 children. Requests have been recorded in all municipal entities of the region, reported the regional office of Rospotrebnadzor. The highest numbers were registered in the urban districts of Bor - 205 cases and Dzerzhinsk - 182. A significant number of requests were also noted in the Vetluzhsky district (161) and Pavlovsky (160). In Nizhny Novgorod, the most frequent requests came from residents of the Soviet district (166 cases), Prioksky (147), and Avtozavodsky (144). Nine cases of tick-borne borreliosis among adults have been confirmed in the region. The infected individuals reside in Nizhny Novgorod, as well as in the Tonkinsky, Balakhnin, Bogorodsky, and Kstovsky districts and in Arzamas. In all cases, the infection occurred within the region, and the diagnoses have been confirmed in the laboratory. Overall, since the beginning of 2026, the number of requests has been 1.3 times lower than the average long-term indicators. Laboratories have examined 3,811 ticks, of which 3,552 were removed from humans. In 702 samples, which constitutes 18.4%, pathogens of infections were detected. Specialists identified seven ticks infected with the tick-borne encephalitis virus (0.2%) - in Shakhunya, Bor, Sharangsky, and Uren districts. Borrelia were found in 559 ticks (14.6%), Ehrlichia in 17 (0.4%), and Anaplasma in 119 (3.12%). Emergency prevention with anti-tick immunoglobulin was administered to 448 people, including 436 children. As of June 3, 11,883 residents of the region have been vaccinated against tick-borne viral encephalitis, including 2,384 children.
