A ski school building worth 400 million rubles will be built in Nizhny Novgorod.

      An agreement for the construction of a ski school building and the improvement of ski slopes in Nizhny Novgorod was signed at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) (18+) by the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, secretary of the regional branch of the United Russia party Gleb Nikitin, and the founder of the charitable foundation Sergey Kolesnikov.

      The foundation will allocate 400 million rubles for the construction of a sports hall for the Nizhny Novgorod Olympic reserve sports school for ski jumping and Nordic combined. The project also includes the improvement of the territory and ski slopes of the Koshelevo ravine – between the cable car station, the ski jumping school, Victory Park, and the "Eco Park" on the rowing canal.

      The project aims to create a federal-level material base for training athletes in the region, as well as to form a new recreational area, which should enhance the tourist attractiveness of the region. The implementation is planned to be completed by 2028.

      According to Gleb Nikitin, the development of mass sports remains one of the region's priority tasks, and attracting incredibly engaged and caring partners to solve it is a great success. The regional head expressed confidence that the Kolesnikov charitable foundation will not only create the necessary sports facility for the city but also improve the areas nearby.

      "I am confident that the facilities will fit perfectly into the territory by the rowing canal, which we have been actively putting in order in recent years," emphasized Gleb Nikitin.

      Sergey Kolesnikov noted that the signing of the agreement at SPIEF has sent a signal to the market. According to him, social initiatives today operate under the same standards of efficiency and transparency as commercial projects.

      "Our task is to build a scalable partnership model where every ruble invested generates measurable long-term results," stated Sergey Kolesnikov.

      The XXIX St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will take place from June 3 to June 6, 2026. It has been held annually since 1997, and since 2006, under the patronage and participation of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
