The All-Russian Classical Music Marathon will take place in Bolshoye Boldino on June 12.
On June 12, Russia Day, the Nizhny Novgorod region will become one of 15 regions in the country where the All-Russian Classical Music Marathon "Cantata. Russia" (0+) will take place. This is one of the largest events in the field of academic art, implemented with the support of the PFCI.
The marathon is part of the International Classical Music Festival "Cantata" and in 2026 will cover regions from Kaliningrad to the Far East. More than 20,000 spectators are expected across Russia, and concerts will be held at historical, cultural, and even industrial sites.
The stage in Bolshoye Boldino will be set up near the State Literary-Memorial and Natural Museum-Reserve of A.S. Pushkin "Boldino," on the territory of the ancestral estate of the Pushkin family, associated with one of the most fruitful periods of the poet's creativity - the "Boldin Autumn."
The program will feature works by Balakirev, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, Sviridov, as well as Tchaikovsky and Mussorgsky. The concert will be performed by the Nizhny Novgorod Chamber Choir, the Nizhny Novgorod Russian Folk Orchestra named after V.A. Kuznetsov, soloists from the Nizhny Novgorod Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after A.S. Pushkin, and international competition laureate Maya Balashova. Admission is free.
The head of the regional Ministry of Culture, Natalia Sukhanova, emphasized the cultural significance of Boldino: "The Boldino Museum-Reserve is a true gem of the Nizhny Novgorod region and a point of attraction not only for fans of Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin's work but also for those who are passionate about culture and art. Just before the 'Cantata,' the 'Pushkin Without Borders' festival (0+) will take place on the museum's territory. I am glad that all residents of our country will see the sights of our Boldino on June 12. I have no doubt that this will inspire them to come and visit us."
The "Cantata. Russia" marathon is part of the VI International Classical Music Festival "Cantata," which will take place from June 12 to 16, 2026, in the Kaliningrad region. The festival aims to popularize academic art, develop educational programs, and preserve cultural heritage. The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, annually highlights the significance of the festival, its educational mission, artistic diversity, and the richness of the program.
The project organizers in the Nizhny Novgorod region are the regional government, the ANO "Center 800," and the Regional Department of Cultural and Educational Projects.
