The creation of the country's first museum street was discussed in Nizhny Novgorod.

On June 3, 2026, at 13:50, Society In the historic quarter of Nizhny Novgorod on Kozhevennaya Street, an off-site meeting of the Public Council under the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region took place. The main topic of discussion was the possible designation of the street as a "museum street." Participants of the meeting, including members of the Public Council, regional parliament deputies, representatives of the regional government, and experts, inspected the cultural and architectural monuments located on Kozhevennaya, as well as the restored public spaces. The tour for the guests was conducted by Alexander Serikov, a member of the Public Council and chairman of the "Land of Nizhny Novgorod" foundation. According to the participants of the discussion, Kozhevennaya already effectively possesses the characteristics of a museum space. Currently, it includes 37 objects located both on the street itself and in the squares of People's Unity and Zachatka.

Therefore, the issue requires further legal development. The chairman of the Public Council under the ZSNO, Viktor Lunin, stated that the implementation of the initiative will require joint work with the regional government and the administration of Nizhny Novgorod. According to him, it is necessary to create a legal framework that will not only preserve the already formed space but also ensure its further development. As noted by deputy and head of the apparatus of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Maxim Rebrov, assigning Kozhevennaya the status of "museum street" could become the first such case in Russia. He believes that such a step could give an additional impetus to the development of Nizhny Novgorod's tourist potential and the preservation of the city's historical heritage. The speaker of the ZSNO, Evgeny Lyulin, summarizing the meeting, emphasized that the new status could become an important stage in the development of the territory; however, attention must also be paid to other tourist centers in the region. "The status of 'museum street' for Kozhevennaya is a good idea, but we must not forget that we have a dozen other equally interesting places in the region—Arzamas, Gorodets, and other cities where the tourist potential is only growing. Therefore, we need to think in parallel about how to support all such territories: help them develop, create conditions for tourism," said Evgeny Lyulin. Earlier, it was reported that the authorities allocated funds for the development of a landscaping concept for Lyskov. The NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
