The relationship between the Nizhny Novgorod region and the Republic of Belarus has developed deeply and interestingly. In principle, for our region, Belarus has always been the number one trading partner. We set target indicators for ourselves and constantly achieved them. Not only large but also significant, interesting, and bright projects in high-tech areas, industry, and other fields have been implemented. And, as far as I remember, for the Republic of Belarus, the Nizhny Novgorod region is also among the important partners. I personally visited the Republic of Belarus several times and do not recall more successful business trips in my life, emphasized the head of the region.
One of the central topics was the development of joint projects. In particular, the discussion focused on the work of the "SP Nizhekotrans" enterprise, which produces trams and electric buses "MiNin". Cooperation in the construction of schools in Arzamas, Balakhna, and the village of Krutaya in Nizhny Novgorod was also discussed. As of the end of 2025, the trade turnover between the region and Belarus increased by 5%. Exports rose by 2%, and imports by 8%. The parties also discussed prospects for cooperation in the IT sector, agriculture, and preparations for the anniversary XX meeting of the Business Cooperation Council, which will take place in 2026 in Nizhny Novgorod. Special attention was paid to shipbuilding. The Minister of International and Interregional Relations of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Olga Guseva, added that cooperation is not limited to the economy.
In addition to the flagship projects already implemented, we have many other joint initiatives - including the participation of cadets from the Minsk Suvorov Military School in events for Victory Day in Nizhny Novgorod, and the reciprocal visit of our cadets to the Republic of Belarus to participate in the celebrations dedicated to our common holiday, and the annual participation of Belarusian IT companies in the CIPR conference (12+), and much more. The Nizhny Novgorod region is always open to further expanding the horizons of cooperation, and we will continue to work on developing bilateral interaction in all key sectors, Guseva stated.
