The "Astra Group" launched the first Russian cloud on the domestic Baikal-S processor.
NIА "Nizhny Novgorod" - Maria Orlova The CIPR-2026 conference (12+) has concluded in Nizhny Novgorod. This year, the business program focused on the industrial competitiveness of Russia, which is based on the systematic implementation of domestic comprehensive digital solutions across various sectors of the economy. One of the key participants was the "Astra Group," which presented a large-scale exhibition dedicated to the development of domestic digital infrastructure. The vendor showcased a wide range of innovations and signed a number of strategic agreements aimed at strengthening the technological sovereignty of the country.
Technological foundation: from OS to cloud platforms The "Astra Group" stand was divided into several thematic zones. The centerpiece was the secure operating system Astra Linux for PCs, servers, mobile devices, and specialized equipment. This year at CIPR, the company introduced the automated migration tool from Windows - Astra Migration, as well as the corporate application store Astra Store. A separate block was dedicated to the company's hardware and software complexes. The vendor presented a new generation of high-performance database machine Tantor Xdata on OpenYard servers, capable of fully replacing solutions from global giants such as Oracle, SAP, and IBM. New products in the Astra XPlatform line were also showcased: XGen for working with artificial intelligence, XTime for backup, and XConnect for load balancing. In addition to ready-made hardware and software complexes, the company presented a platform for developing its own digital solutions. It allows for the creation of applications and seamless integration into the "Astra Group" solution ecosystem, ensuring security at all stages - from coding to launch.
Cloud on "Baikal" and a discussion on trust The pinnacle of this ecosystem was Astra Cloud on Baikal processors. This is a fully import-substituted technological stack, where hardware and software work as a single entity. The CEO of Astra Cloud, Denis Mukhin, spoke about the creation of this solution and the challenges facing the team. "Today we present a novelty, the first cloud in Russia on domestic microelectronics, on the Baikal processor. This is truly a unique event," noted Denis Mukhin, CEO of Astra Cloud. "I will draw a parallel with Apple: they create their own processor, their own operating system, and provide developers with tools to create software for their technological stack. We take this concept and transfer it to the cloud. We adapted cloud software for the Baikal processor and created the Astra Dev Platform - a tool for developers to work in our technological stack."
Denis Mukhin also reported that the company has already migrated its critical services, including 1C, to the new stack. "Our important task is to ensure a truly adequate level of customer trust in the infrastructure through three things. These are security, reliability, and service quality. And security in this case, with the synergy of hardware and software, is not an option but a basic functionality of the product," he said. As part of the business program, the company held a session titled "The Root of Cloud Trust." Participants - representatives from banks, corporations, providers, and developers - agreed that the main barrier for critical sectors is not the technology itself, but the transparent rules of responsibility for infrastructure and data. Business acknowledges the shortage of capacities and personnel, but the fear of losing control and security issues hinder the process. Another key point is the formalization of responsibility in case of incidents. Overall, participants noted that the future lies in cloud models, and the dialogue between customers, providers, and regulators is just beginning.
Strategic agreements: PACs, medicine, education At the forum, the "Astra Group" signed 35 agreements, including with regional ministries of digital development, as well as with large companies such as "Rostelecom," "Norilsk Nickel," and "RusHydro." A powerful alliance was formed for the public sector: the companies "Aquarius," "Astra Consulting" (part of the "Astra Group"), "Axel PRO," and "Techpromsoft" will create a line of trusted hardware and software complexes for federal agencies. The partnership will ensure a full cycle - from designing the hardware platform to certifying the finished solution. As noted by Timurbulat Sultangaliev, CEO of "Astra Consulting," the software environment for the public sector requires a special approach: it is necessary to lay the architecture designed for certification and a long lifecycle from day one. "Within the framework of strategic partnership, we have the opportunity to do this synchronously with the development of the hardware platform, which significantly reduces the time-to-market of the final solution," he noted.
In the healthcare sector, the "Astra Group" will join efforts with "RT MIS" ("Rostelecom") to create import-independent platforms based on Astra Linux and the Tantor DBMS. "This opens up the possibility of building completely import-independent digital platforms in one of the most socially significant areas," stated Ilya Sivtsev, CEO of the "Astra Group." Within the educational agenda, "Astra Academy" has agreed to cooperate with key partners. Agreements with the IT integrator of "Rosatom" ("Greenatom"), JSC "Russian Railways," as well as leading technical universities - MTUCI and HSE - aim to train specialists to work with domestic software in critical infrastructure. "We are systematically working to ensure that courses on Astra Linux and our other products meet the current challenges of the Russian economy, and we will be happy to share our expertise directly with those who provide the digital foundation of critical infrastructure," emphasized Alexander Gutin, marketing director of the "Astra Group." Partners plan to develop specialized programs, open specialized laboratories, and involve practicing specialists in training personnel to work with domestic system software and in import substitution projects.
