This was announced by Dmitry Grigorenko, Deputy Chairman of the Government of Russia, at the CIPR (12+) conference, according to his press service. Currently, the technology is available on three routes: Moscow - Nizhny Novgorod, Moscow - Ivanovo, and Moscow - Kostroma. Simultaneously, testing of new routes from Nizhny Novgorod to Kirov and Ivanovo is underway. Their launch is scheduled for summer 2026.

      "Today, I familiarized myself with the operation of the system at the Nizhny Novgorod station. The entire procedure takes no more than ten seconds, and presenting a passport is not required. A decision has already been made to scale the service to new routes," noted Dmitry Grigorenko.

      The Deputy Chairman of the Government added that the use of biometrics remains voluntary - in all user scenarios, it is considered an alternative way to receive the service. To use the service, it is necessary to register in advance in the Unified Biometric System and give consent for the processing of personal data. The Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region, Secretary of the regional branch of "United Russia" Gleb Nikitin, noted that Nizhny Novgorod has become one of the first cities where passengers have the opportunity to travel on the "Lastochka" using biometrics.

      "I am confident that over time this service will become popular among Nizhny Novgorod residents and guests of our region on other routes of the Gorky Railway," said the head of the region.
