About 150 applications from NGOs in the Nizhny Novgorod region were submitted for the regional grant competition.
The application period for the grant competition for socially oriented non-profit organizations in the region, operated this year by the House of National Unity, has ended. The application campaign lasted from March 23 to April 29, 2026. A total of 148 applications were submitted by NGOs for a total amount of about 130 million rubles. The minimum grant amount requested for project implementation was 103,500 rubles, while the maximum, according to the competition regulations, did not exceed 1 million rubles. Among the project directions, the leaders are "Support for family, motherhood, fatherhood, and childhood," "Social services, social support, and protection of citizens," as well as "Preservation of historical memory." The most active municipalities in terms of the number of competition participants were Nizhny Novgorod, Dzerzhinsk, Pavlovo, Arzamas, and Gorodets.
Throughout the one and a half months of the application campaign, specialists from the House of National Unity not only conducted practical classes for NGOs in municipalities but also regularly consulted representatives of organizations. "Grants are a real mechanism for turning initiatives into help for specific people. Thanks to the competition, Nizhny Novgorod NGOs receive resources to solve social problems: assistance to families with children, veterans, and the preservation of historical memory. When organizations receive grant support, they become reliable partners of the state in the development of the region," emphasized the head of the "House of National Unity," Sergey Fyodorov.
An independent examination of the applications will take place within 10 days, starting from May 15, 2026. Experts will evaluate projects on a 10-point scale based on ten criteria, including relevance, social significance, logical coherence, uniqueness, and realism of the budget. The results of the competitive selection will be announced by June 17, and the winners will be able to start implementing their projects from August 20, 2026. Grants are provided within the framework of the departmental project of the state regional program "Social Support for Citizens of the Nizhny Novgorod Region."
Over five years, the regional grant competition has supported about 400 projects. Just last year, financial assistance was provided to 90 initiatives totaling more than 98 million rubles – from festivals to programs assisting people with disabilities and patriotic projects.
