"A blow for the whole team": the head coach of "Pari NN" on the defeat to CSKA
The new head coach of FC "Pary Nizhny Novgorod," Vadim Garanin, summed up the match against CSKA. The meeting ended with the hosts losing 1:2. During the game, the team led 1:0, but in the closing moments, the army team managed to score two goals within two minutes and turn the tide of the match. This defeat became the eighth consecutive loss for "Pary NN." According to Garanin, the result was a serious blow to the team.
"We all wanted to claw out this victory; it was very close. But football is like that. We lost concentration. This is a blow for the whole team," the specialist stated.
The coach acknowledged that the decisive moments came in the last minutes of the match.
"Unfortunately, the last two or three minutes cannot be erased. This is part of the game; they nailed us. It is impossible to fully implement your idea in such a short period. There were some good moments, some tactical ideas worked out. But globally, this is a matter of psychology. In the first 10-15 minutes, it was felt that we were in a difficult situation; the league table is pressing. But the guys inside the team really want it—both in training and in matches. I can't bring myself to blame anyone," he noted.
In the specialist's opinion, the opponent managed to take advantage of these shortcomings.
"During the second half, we lacked the moment when we could have positioned ourselves, changed direction while playing with the ball, and combined through the defenders. At that moment, CSKA was applying pressure. It is clear that we were guarding our penalty area, but at the same time, the team wanted to score again, especially against CSKA. We lacked calmness and composure while playing with the ball. This was also evident in the first half. And CSKA is a team that feels this and can seize the initiative. It is clear that players do not like to play without the ball. We fell short in this component," Garanin added.
Despite the difficult situation, the club hopes to maintain its place in the RPL.
"We understand that chances remain. Right now, it is important to recover psychologically," emphasized the head coach.
Garanin reported that the team would get two days off to recharge.
"We will give the team two days off so they can be with their families, disconnect, and not think about the current moment. Our task will be to activate their physical condition through the training process afterward. The same applies to psychology. I understand that this is difficult, especially when you've been hit like a hammer on the head. But this is our job," he concluded.
