Nizhny Novgorod dacha owners were advised to add salt to their pools.

May 11, 2026 13:39 Society A pool at the cottage is often associated either with a sharp smell of chlorine or with a constant battle against green water. The solution to this problem may be simpler than it seems. This was reported in his Max channel by the editor-in-chief of the medical publication "Stationary-Press," Alexey Nikонов. He cited a comment from ENT doctor Grigory Belozerov, who reminded about the possibility of using table salt to create a comfortable bathing environment. According to the specialist, chlorine in its pure form is quite aggressive. However, in the presence of a chlorine generator in the pool, salt is converted into so-called "soft" chlorine. As a result, the water does not irritate mucous membranes, does not dry out the skin, and does not harm hair. After bathing, there is a feeling of freshness, rather than tightness of the skin. Moreover, water in a saltwater pool retains clarity longer without the use of expensive chemical agents. In such conditions, it is more difficult for algae and bacteria to reproduce. A weak saline solution can also have additional effects: reducing swelling, maintaining muscle and joint tone, and promoting the healing of minor skin injuries. To "salt" the pool correctly, it is recommended to add 3-4 kilograms of salt per 1 cubic meter of water. Only "Extra" or higher grade salt should be used, without iodine or any additives. Technical salt can leave yellow stains on the walls of the pool. Earlier, a dermatologist explained why beer cannot replace SPF cream. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
