Nizhny Novgorod woman became a subject of a case on the fictitious registration of migrants.
On May 11, 2026, at 11:35, Incidents In Nizhny Novgorod, police uncovered the fact of fictitious registration of two foreign citizens for migration purposes. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region.
The migrants were registered at the apartment of a 52-year-old unemployed local resident on Krasny Zory Street. She was aware that they would not actually reside at this address. For her services, the woman received a monetary reward.
Criminal cases have been initiated against her under Article 322.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Fictitious registration of a foreign citizen." She has been placed under a preventive measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave and proper behavior.
The maximum penalty under this article provides for a fine of up to 500,000 rubles or imprisonment for up to five years.
The police reminded that the registration of foreign citizens must be conducted strictly in accordance with the law. Fictitious registration in a residential premises entails criminal liability, while a similar violation in a non-residential premises is classified under part 2 of Article 19.27 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation.
