Law enforcement raided a garage drug lab in Nizhny Novgorod - photo

      On May 7, 2026, at 10:46, Incidents: Police, together with employees of the regional FSB, detained a 37-year-old resident of Nizhny Novgorod who was involved in the production of drugs in particularly large quantities.

      As reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region, the previously unconvicted man found a side job through a messenger. He was hired to create a laboratory and synthesize drugs from precursors obtained through hideouts.

      He set up the production of mephedrone in a garage that he bought in the Nizhny Novgorod region specifically for these purposes.

      During operational-search activities, five transparent containers with some substance, 46 canisters with liquid, and two refrigerators were found and seized from the Nizhny Novgorod resident. The press service of the FSB for the Nizhny Novgorod region clarified that among the seized items were 3 kg of drugs, as well as various devices for the production of prohibited substances.

      A criminal case was initiated against the suspect under Part 3 of Article 30, Part 5 of Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - attempted illegal production, sale, or transfer of drugs. The court placed him in custody. The investigation is ongoing.

      It was previously reported that since the beginning of the year, more than 150 kg of narcotic substances have been seized in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
