A mother of many children from Nizhny Novgorod was sentenced to five years in a penal colony for child abuse.

      On May 7, 2026, at 10:11, incidents occurred in the Nizhny Novgorod region where a verdict was handed down to a resident of the Pervomaisky district, who was accused of cruel treatment of her own children and improper performance of parental duties, as reported by the press service of the regional court.

      It was established that from 2015 to 2024, the woman subjected four minor children to physical and psychological suffering. According to the case materials, she regularly inflicted beatings on them and also independently sutured their wounds without anesthesia.

      In addition, the defendant repeatedly left the children alone at home without supervision and without a necessary supply of food. Due to their age, they could not take care of themselves and their safety. The court also concluded that the mother did not provide the children with either education or necessary medical assistance.

      By the verdict dated May 6, 2026, she was found guilty. Based on the totality of crimes, through partial accumulation of sentences, she was sentenced to five years of imprisonment in a general regime correctional colony.

      The court also satisfied the civil claims of the prosecutor. The convicted woman was ordered to pay 500,000 rubles for each child as compensation for moral damage.

      It was previously reported that the Nizhny Novgorod woman, convicted for attempting to set fire to her sleeping son, was unable to appeal the verdict.
