      On April 29, 2026, at 18:05, Society The Memory Alley, dedicated to the 28 heroes of the Great Patriotic War - natives of the Nizhny Novgorod region, was opened in the Nizhny Novgorod Victory Park ahead of May 9. The project was implemented by the regional branch of the "Volunteers of Victory" movement with the support of the regional branch of the Russian Military Historical Society and the "Center 800".

      The ceremony was attended by Great Patriotic War veteran Vasily Afanasyevich Kuznetsov, Deputy Mayor Vladimir Anisimov, Chairman of the Regional Branch of the RVIO Ivan Kalmykov, City Duma Deputy Dmitry Igoshin, as well as SVO veteran and head of the patriotic space "Defenders of the Fatherland" Sergey Kharinov.

      The stands of the Memory Alley feature the names and faces of those who went to the front in their youth, participated in key battles of the war - from Stalingrad to Berlin and Prague. Among those commemorated are Kursk battle participant Vasily Kuznetsov, scout Alexandra Nestenko, pilot Evgeny Kryukov, young sailor of the Northern Fleet Sergey Rakov, and other veterans.

      The right to open the alley was given to 101-year-old veteran Vasily Afanasyevich Kuznetsov. Deputy Head of the City Vladimir Anisimov noted that the victory in the Great Patriotic War affected every family in the country and was achieved thanks to people's conviction in the righteousness of their cause: "Let the younger generation see and know that thanks to these people they live."

      The participants of the ceremony honored the memory of the fallen with a moment of silence and remembered six veterans who passed away in the last year. Their names - David Berger, Arkady Krichevsky, Ivan Rzhanov, Gennady Morgunov, Alexander Samarin, and Nikolai Shishkin - are now also inscribed in the ranks of the "Immortal Regiment."

      The alley is open for visits daily from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM during park hours. It was previously reported that the "Immortal Regiment" action (0+) in 2026 will take place in an online format.
