The holiday "At Victory Our Faces, At Victory There Are No Borders" took place at the GAZ House of Culture.
Among the festive events dedicated to the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, a traditional concert titled "Victory has our faces, Victory knows no borders" took place at the GAZ House of Culture. The organizers were the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the United Russia party and the regional branch of the Union of Pensioners of Russia.
The solemn event was dedicated to the memory of participants in the Great Patriotic War and the special military operation. Pensioners from 58 municipal districts of the Nizhny Novgorod region and Nizhny Novgorod gathered at the House of Culture — a total of 1,200 people.
"I have in my hands a portrait of my grandfather, Bolshakov Sergey Vasilyevich. He went through the war, was disabled, but had immense strength of spirit. And this spirit he passed on to me," shared Vladimir Tarasov, chairman of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the Union of Pensioners of Russia, deputy chairman of the Nizhny Novgorod City Duma, and regional coordinator of the United Russia party's "Older Generation" project. "You know, after such concerts, people live under the impression for three to four months — they came, congratulated each other, communicated. This positivity is passed on to the youth, showing how to live, enjoy life, and be patriots of their country. In our 'Older Generation' project, there are many events. This year, a sports festival will start, and on Saturdays, active sites are planned to be held in five parks of Nizhny Novgorod. They will include Nordic walking, exercise, and active games. The program is aimed not only at pensioners; we expect their grandchildren and children to come. This is a real connection between generations," he added.
An important part of the event was the traditional minute of silence. Participants honored the memory of the heroes. Guests came to the concert with portraits of their relatives — front-line soldiers of the Great Patriotic War, rear workers, and participants of the special military operation. Before the program began, all the artists came on stage with photographs of their grandfathers and great-grandfathers who were veterans.
"Such concerts are a conversation of souls, where everyone feels part of something huge and unbreakable. For us, participants of the special military operation, the veterans of the Great Patriotic War are our teachers. They did not teach us to shoot, but they instilled in us the main thing: not to give up, to love our homeland, and to defend it to the end. This holiday is about our common truth, about life and death, about what we are all responsible for," emphasized Dmitry Grachev, deputy minister of internal regional and municipal policy of the Nizhny Novgorod region, participant of the special military operation, and candidate for the preliminary voting of United Russia in the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
At the end of the solemn part of the event, Dmitry Grachev presented a medal for support of the special military operation to Pavel Yudin. The order for the award was signed by the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin, and the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Evgeny Lyulin.
Pavel Yudin is a well-known bard from Nizhny Novgorod, organizer of humanitarian convoys and concerts in hospitals and in the special military operation zone. As a volunteer, he has traveled "behind the ribbon" 36 times in his own car. Pavel delivers cargo collected by regional branches of the Union of Fathers of Russia and the Union of Pensioners of Russia. Through joint efforts, over 15 million rubles have been donated in 3.5 years.
The event continued with a festive concert. The program consisted of lyrical and patriotic vocal and dance performances. The best groups from the municipalities of the Nizhny Novgorod region performed on stage: from the Krasnobakovsky, Lyskovo, Voskresensky districts, the city of Dzerzhinsk, and the working settlement of Pilna. The concert concluded with a final song performed by all participants together with the audience.
"I believe that memory is sacred for all generations. Today's event is dedicated to the history of Russia through the history of each family. People came with portraits of their relatives. This is a living connection, where behind each portrait is a person's fate. The memory of the deeds of ancestors and contemporaries unites us. We must cherish it and pass it on," noted Tatyana Bogdanova, deputy chairwoman of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the Union of Pensioners of Russia.
In the foyer, a thematic photo zone was set up, and master classes were organized. A white bear — a mascot symbolizing the party — entertained guests and created a festive atmosphere.
The "Open Mic" was very popular. Festival participants could showcase their talents. Guests recited poems and performed songs with guitar, accordion, and choir. All creative performances were dedicated to the theme of the Great Patriotic War and Victory.
"I have been engaged in amateur artistic activities all my life. Today we are planning a performance with an accordion, we will sing 'Katyusha'. The impressions are wonderful — I can't even find the words, it will be great! I am an elderly person, I am already 75 years old, I rarely attend such events, but I am invited — and I am happy. I congratulate everyone on the upcoming Victory Day! I wish health, happiness, a peaceful sky above, that people are kind, responsive, and give each other love," shared guest Alexander Koshcheev at the festive event.
Let us remind you that the "Older Generation" project has been implemented in the Nizhny Novgorod region for more than ten years. The initiative covers various spheres of life for older adults: health, education, leisure, volunteering, and more. Special attention is paid to intergenerational connections and the participation of activists in the patriotic education of youth.
Creating conditions for active healthy longevity, developing a system of continuous education, promoting decent quality of life, and actively involving older citizens in public life are among the important tasks of the People's Program of United Russia and the party project "Older Generation."
