This was reported by Mayor Yuri Shalabaev at a city council meeting, as conveyed by a correspondent from NIA "Nizhny Novgorod." According to the mayor, the city still ranks among the top five major Russian cities in terms of investment volume, average wage levels, and unemployment rates. Among the key advantages of Nizhny Novgorod, the mayor highlighted its diversified economy and high share of science-intensive and high-tech industries. It is this stable structure that has allowed for the preservation of positive dynamics in investment and consumer activity, which remain the drivers of development. According to last year's results, the volume of investments in fixed assets increased by more than 8%. The average wage rose by almost 13%, while retail trade turnover increased by nearly 15%. Budget indicators also showed growth. The city's treasury revenues exceeded 76 billion rubles by the end of the year, while expenditures amounted to almost 79 billion rubles. Yuri Shalabaev noted for comparison that in 2020, budget parameters were less than 40 billion rubles, meaning that over a few years, it nearly doubled. As the mayor emphasized, this indicates the intensive development of the city and the creation of a serious foundation for the future. According to him, over six years, 35 billion rubles have been allocated for the implementation of activities within the framework of national projects—a sum comparable to the total expenditures of the city budget six years ago. Furthermore, the budgetary provision—an indicator of income per capita—has been growing annually. By the end of 2025, Nizhny Novgorod expects to rank among the top three cities in this indicator, added Yuri Shalabaev.
