Travel discounts on electric trains became available to Nizhny Novgorod residents starting April 24.

      On April 24, 2026, at 09:00, the Society announced that regional travel discounts on Nizhny Novgorod electric trains became available starting April 24. They can be used until October 1, 2026, inclusive, as reported by the press service of JSC "VVPPK."

      The discount amounts will range from 50% to 100% depending on the category of passengers.

      A 50% discount on the fare will be provided on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, as well as on holidays and pre-holiday days. This will be available to men over 60 years old and women over 55 years old, as well as citizens whose old-age insurance pension was assigned before this age. Additionally, the benefit extends to recipients of survivor pensions and citizens awarded the "Honorary Donor of Russia" or "Honorary Donor of the USSR" badge.

      To obtain a discounted ticket, confirming documents must be presented. For older citizens, an identity card is sufficient, for pensioners — a certificate of the established form or a pension certificate, and for donors — the corresponding certificate for the badge.

      At the same time, the "Resident Card of the Nizhny Novgorod Region" can be used as a document confirming the passenger's identity, as it contains basic personal data and a photograph. For men over 60 and women over 55, it also confirms the right to the benefit.

      Members of large families will be able to use suburban rail transport for free throughout the entire period of the benefits. The basis for this is the "Large Family Certificate," which can be presented in both paper and electronic form — through the "Gosuslugi" mobile application or in QR code format. At the same time, a free ticket is issued separately for each family member; group tickets are not provided.

      Social support is provided to large families with three or more children until the oldest of the three younger children reaches 18 years of age. In the case of their full-time education and being dependent on their parents, support measures are extended until the age of 23.

      It is noted that the specified benefits are provided regardless of the place of residence of the citizens in the eligible categories. At the same time, travel arrangements in other regions are carried out in accordance with the regulatory acts of the respective subjects of the Russian Federation.

      We remind you that since April 4, "dacha" electric trains have resumed operating in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
