Nizhny Novgorod residents were informed about the current stage of the metro extension in Sormovo.

      April 24, 2026 08:11 Society NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" - Maria Orlova A large part of the engineering surveys for the project to extend the Sormovsko-Meshcherskaya metro line from the "Burevestnik" station to the new "Sormovskaya" station has already been completed. This was reported by NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" in the press service of the general contractor (GC "Mostproject-3").

      The project for the development of design and estimate documentation is divided into eight stages. Three of them concern the preparation of the area for both the station and the line route as a whole: it is necessary to relocate utility networks, clear the site of objects, and ensure readiness for the start of construction.

      Another three stages involve the construction of installation and dismantling chambers for tunnel boring complexes, the tunneling itself, as well as the erection of station structures and tunnel facilities necessary for metro operation.

      The last two stages are dedicated to the development of design documentation for the improvement of the area around the future station complex and along the line route.

      "As part of the project implementation, most of the survey work has been completed: for the installation and dismantling chambers, for the preparation of the territory, and for the construction of starting pits. Project work is currently underway to prepare the territory, and technical solutions for the reconstruction of engineering networks are being determined," noted Konstantin Matveev, the general director of the "Mostproject-3" group of companies.

      He added that the main construction and installation work will begin after the completion of design, coordination of technical solutions, and estimate costs in the Main State Expert Review of Russia.

      Recall that the contract for the construction of the new station in the Sormovsky district was signed in August 2022. The cost of the project is 19.4 billion rubles. The station is planned to be located near Stationnaya Street, not far from the railway platform.

      It was previously reported that the construction of metro stations in Sennaya and Svobody squares is planned to be completed by August 2027.
