This was reported by the governor, secretary of the regional branch of "United Russia," Gleb Nikitin, at a meeting of the government commission on regional development in Russia chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin on April 23. The main topic of discussion was the results of the first quarter of 2026 in the field of housing construction. According to Khusnullin, monitoring of the construction industry continues in the country. From January to March, 6.9 million square meters of non-residential buildings were commissioned — a figure comparable to the same period last year. The total volume of housing commissioned reached 23 million square meters. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the construction complex is operating under difficult conditions, so adherence to discipline and fulfillment of obligations under the national project "Infrastructure for Life" and state programs is of particular importance. Gleb Nikitin, presenting the situation in the region, reported that 326.3 thousand square meters of housing were commissioned in the region in the first quarter. The segment of multi-apartment construction shows positive dynamics: commissioning has increased by 74%. At the same time, the ratio of sold areas to construction readiness reached 99%, significantly exceeding the national average and indicating a balanced market and real demand. At the same time, the governor noted a decrease in the volume of individual housing construction. One of the reasons he cited was the tightening of mortgage lending conditions against the backdrop of a high key interest rate. The regional Ministry of Construction emphasized that, despite current difficulties, the region expects to meet planned indicators for housing commissioning under the national project "Infrastructure for Life." Providing citizens with affordable housing remains one of the key priorities of this national project initiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Within its framework, social, transport, and utility infrastructure is also being developed. It is worth noting that in 2025, the Nizhny Novgorod region exceeded the target indicators of the federal project "Housing" under the national project "Infrastructure for Life."
