Two schoolchildren from the Nizhny Novgorod region became prize winners of the National Technological Olympiad.
On April 23, 2026, 11:57 Society Two school students from the Nizhny Novgorod region have become prize winners of the eleventh season of the National Technological Olympiad. Within the profile of "Big Data and Machine Learning," one of the leaders is Danila Masov, a student of Lyceum No. 38 in Nizhny Novgorod, and within the profile of "Wireless Communication Technologies" – Evgeny Shemyakov, a student of School No. 125 in Nizhny Novgorod. The winners and prize winners of the Olympiad are provided with significant preferences: 100 points in the Unified State Exam for the relevant subject or the opportunity for admission to leading universities in the country without entrance exams. The National Technological Olympiad is held as part of the national project "Youth and Children" in collaboration with the Presidential platform "Russia – a Country of Opportunities" under the coordination of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. A total of 463 students from grades 8 to 11 from 59 regions of Russia, as well as from Kazakhstan, became diploma winners of the eleventh season of the competition. According to the organizers, more than 2,100 school students and university students competed in the final stages of the Olympiad. The series of finals took place at the venues of 24 universities and technological companies in 11 cities across the country. "The National Technological Olympiad is a special project for the Presidential platform. It brings together researchers, technology companies, the state, business, universities, and schools. At the venues of the NTO, future engineers encounter real challenges, and education becomes a bridge to practical tasks. This connection works towards a specific result: the country receives not just trained specialists, but a generation ready to develop technologies, strengthen industry, and create the future of Russia," noted Andrey Betin, General Director of the Presidential platform "Russia – a Country of Opportunities" and Rector of the Management Workshop "Senezh." In the 2025/2026 academic year, during the Olympiad, school students competed in 34 profiles. The finalists of the Olympiad solved problems at the intersection of disciplines: they automated complete cycles of mining enterprises, created software complexes from drones and manipulators for eliminating the consequences of earthquakes, and developed systems for analyzing satellite images during natural disasters. Teams programmed "digital guides" for the visually impaired and designed life support systems for city farms in extreme climate conditions. Participants also created unique genetic constructs for synthesizing vitamins and medicines, and in IT fields – trained neural networks to protect critical infrastructure and created gaming worlds. The tasks of the finals were as close as possible to the requests of the real sector of the economy, and the work was conducted in conditions similar to production processes. "The finals of the NTO not only test the engineering skills of the participants but also serve as a ticket to the professional community that today defines the technological face of the country. Each year, the tasks of the Olympiad become deeper, and the solutions from school students bolder. Our goal is to support talented kids at all stages and create conditions for their path into science and industry to be as effective as possible," noted Dmitry Zemtsov, the responsible secretary of the NTO organizing committee and Vice-Rector of the Higher School of Economics. The list of winners and prize winners has been published on the Olympiad's website. The National Technological Olympiad is already preparing for the launch of the twelfth season. At the end of August 2026, the project office of the NTO will present current profiles in the school and student tracks. However, preliminary registration is already open for those wishing to participate in unique team engineering competitions. Let us remind you that the national project "Youth and Children" is being implemented by order of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. It includes nine federal projects and programs: "Russia – a Country of Opportunities," "We Are Together," "Russia in the World," "Everything for the Best for Children," "Leading Schools," "Teachers and Mentors," "Creating a Network of Modern Campuses," "Universities for the Generation of Leaders," and "Professionalism."
