This was reported by the press service of the law enforcement agency. A criminal case for causing property damage (paragraph "b", part 2, article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) was initiated in 2024. The accused was a deputy from the "Growth Party," who was part of the budget, taxes, and tariffs committee of the Borsk District Council. It was established that in 2023 he organized a mining farm, illegally connecting to the power grid. The damage he caused to "Rosseti" was estimated at nearly 30 million rubles. Ultimately, he was "released" from criminal liability — the court found him insane. He is now set to undergo treatment with a psychiatrist. Meanwhile, several sources have reported that the decision made in the case may be linked to the defendant's connections in law enforcement agencies. In this regard, Bastrykin instructed the head of the regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee, Airat Akhmetshin, to report on the results of the investigation, the procedural decisions made, and the arguments voiced in the media.
