Defender Boykov spoke about working with Isakov and his future at "Torpedo."

      April 21, 2026 14:39 Sports Defender of Nizhny Novgorod's HC "Torpedo" Sergey Boykov spoke about working under the head coach Alexey Isakov and also expressed his thoughts on his future with the club.

      Recall that Isakov took over the Nizhny Novgorod team after a successful season with the farm club "Torpedo-Gorky," which under his leadership won the Russian Champion Cup in the VHL. Previously, in the 2023/2024 season, the specialist coached "Chayka" and led them to bronze medals in the youth championship.

      Answering fans' questions on his Telegram channel, Boykov noted that he felt comfortable working with Isakov.

      "As a debut coach, he had a very good season. He found the right words for the team and was always open to conversations; not many coaches are willing to communicate openly," added Sergey.

      The defender also spoke about the possibility of extending his contract with the club. Boykov joined the team of auto manufacturers last summer. His unilateral contract is valid until May 31.

      "There have been no discussions about the contract yet. But I hope that it will happen in the near future. As a player, I would like to stay with 'Torpedo' and defend the team's colors. Whether a contract offer will come is something the club's management and the head coach will decide," he concluded.

      It was previously reported that Firstov's goal topped the list of the best goals of the second round of the KHL.
